Emeli Sandé The Bigger Winner At This Year’s Ivor Novello Awards

The Ivor Novello Awards took place in Grosvenor House today in London, May 16th. The awards intend to celebrate excellence in music writing and acknowledge composers from all types of genres.

Emeli Sandé was the big winner today taking home the award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically along with her co-writers for Next to Me. The song also took the PRS for Music Most Performed Work.

The Maccabees claimed the title for Best Contemporary Song for the wonderful Pelican while the album award went to Alt-J for Unger-Hamilton.

Best Original Film Score went to Dario Marianelli for his amazing work on Anna Karenina. Noel Gallagher also got a nod for Outstanding Collection.

Interestingly, Calvin Harris received Songwriter of the Year which is an extremely prestigious award.

The awards are seen by many to be the greatest one can receive in music. Paul McCartney has commented that of all the awards he received, the Ivor Novello was the greatest.
