Soundtracks occasionally define certain moments in film, some of them so perfectly becoming a part of the movie that they melt in the backgroud, but not in a bad way. We’re talking here about the songs used for soundtracks and their compilations, we’re saving best original music for another day. Here are eleven of the most perfect movie soundtracks.

1. Donnie Darko

From the amazing Duran Duran, Notorious to the brilliant Mad World, Darko is certainly top of the favourite soundtrack lists.

2. Romeo and Juliet

Mundy’s To You I Bestow, Radiohead’s Talk Show Host and #1 Crush from Garbage are just some of the gems on this soundtrack.

3. Pulp Fiction

It was a teenage wedding and the old folks wished them well…

4. The Rocky Horror Picture Show

A cult favourite, this soundtrack is just a masterpiece. Meatloaf!

5. Les Miserables

Well, yes, they do sing the entire film but the soundtrack captures the greater pieces.

6. O Brother, Where Art Thou?

George Clooney pretending to sing some really fine country songs? Sign us up.

7. Drive

While a lot of people discussed the violence in Drive, there were still a hell of a lot of people discussing the soundtrack.

8. Fight Club

That final scene with the Pixies, just a masterpiece.

9. The Bodyguard

Admit it, we all own a copy of this.

10. Dirty Dancing

And certainly, certainly, this one.

11.Saturday Night Fever

Because everyone loves the singing chipmunks… we mean Bee Gees.
