The rumours have been confirmed, country music’s royalty will be sailing his vessel around the world next year, and we couldn’t be any happier.
Brooks made the announcement yesterday on ‘Good Morning America’, during an interview to promote his new box set, ‘Blame It All on My Roots: Five Decades of Influences.’ Yes, that has been added to our Christmas list.
Host Robin Roberts asked the question that had been on the lips of every country fan since the rumour mill began spinning during the summer.
At first, Garth skimmed over any suggestion of a world tour by saying “I would love to but at 52, I’m worried it’s the wheelchair and walker tour kinda-thing.”
“Between me and you, I think we’ll make an announcement very soon,” he continued.
“If you want to, you can make it right now,” Roberts said.
And like the gent that he is, Garth gave the lady what she wanted.
“You sure? Well, you know what? Since it’s you and since we’ve had a history forever, let’s announce it. We’re going on a world tour in 2014.”
Brooks entered semi-retirement in 2001, and finally he has well and truly left it all behind him and is back where he belongs… How did we cope without him for so long?
No dates are known at this time, however we’re sure he’ll be coming home to see the rolling fields of green and fences made of stone.
