Classic Album Of The Week: ABBA Gold from ABBA

We miss these super troupers!

Una Kavanagh

There’s no doubt in our minds that ABBA were once of one of the biggest and most successful pop groups in the world (even though One of Us in office might tend to disagree), so it comes as no surprise that we’re featuring their greatest hits.

ABBA Gold: Greatest Hits, is a compilation of the best tunes from the Swedish pop group, released in 1992. As of last year, it’s the second-best selling album ever in the UK, overtaking The Beatles and just behind Queen with over 5.1 million copies sold (Money, Money, Money!)

The album was re-released in “remastered” and “special edition” versions over the years, including CD/DVD releases and performances in high resolution. From heartfelt tunes like Chiquitita to bouncy dance tracks like Voulez-Vous, there are plenty of songs on this fantastic and cheesy album to keep you bopping.

Thank you for the music, here are our top four favourite tracks from this album:

Fernando

The Name of the Game

The Winner Takes it All

Chiquitita

Previous Her.ie Classic Albums Of The Week

Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours

Kanye West’s College Dropout

Oasis’ Definitely Maybe
