AA Roadwatch has today issued a warning to motorists nationwide as weather conditions are set to deteriorate.
Motorists are being advised to take extra care this morning with fog and freezing road temperatures making conditions treacherous.
They have warned there is widespread frost, with particularly low road temperatures on the N2 Dublin Road in Monaghan, the N3 Dublin/Cavan road at Kells, on the N11 Dublin/Wexford road at Enniscorthy and Arklow and also on the N81 at Baltinglass.
Motorists are being asked to give themselves plenty of time to get to their destination and to bear in mind that gentle manoeuvres are the key to safer driving.
There has also been warnings of fog in Portlaoise, Carlow town and Navan, with motorists being reminded to use their fog lights and to remember to switch the lights off when the fog lifts.
