Good news everyone! Your post-night-out burger from Supermac’s is safe, as the beloved fast-food chain has confirmed that burgers supplied to it by Rangeland Foods were not affected by a horse-meat-related recall today.

The Irish Independent reports that Supermac’s awesome annoucement comes after the Food Safety Authorithy said it was noticed by Rangeland Foods in county Monaghan that tests showed some batches of its burgers tested positive for between 5pc and 30pc horsemeat.

The company is now withdrawing burgers that it sold to the catering and wholesale sectors in Ireland, Space, France, Germany and the Netherlands.

However, Pat McDonagh, the owner of Supermac’s spoke out today and said:

“The issue which has arisen today bears absolutely no relevance to Supermac’s meat products which are 100pc Irish,” he said.

Supermac’s is 100 per cent pure Irish beef. Yum.

Mr McDonagh added that Supermac’s had carried out their own tests to verify their burgers were pure Irish beef and had received written and laboratory confirmation that this was the case.

So you can chow down on that Saturday night burger safe the knowledge that yes, it is 100 per cent Irish beef and there are no traces of horse in it. Good to know.
