The first weekend of June has arrived and while our prayers for that glorious Leaving Cert weather continue to go unanswered, that’s not going to stop us getting out there and making the most of our summer weekends.
Here’s our pick of the best events happening around the Emerald Isle this weekend. What will you be going to?
1. Dublin: Alan Carr at The Olympia
What: One of our favourite comedians is coming to Irish shores this weekend for four shows at the Olympia. The Chatty Man will be entertaining his audience with his hilarious take on life as part of his ‘Yap, Yap, Yap’ tour. Get tickets here.

2. Monaghan: Clones Canal Festival
What: The annual Clones Canal Festival and Soap Box Race is a weekend of fun for all the family. Events include the big soap box race, fun runs, cycle runs, kayaking, a farmer’s markets, arts and craft, live music and a whole lot more. For more info here.

3. Galway: The Underscore Orkestra at the Roisin Dubh
What: Hailing from Portland, Oregon, the Underscore Orkestra blend hot jazz, swing, and Americana music to create a gorgeous sound. Take a listen to their version of ‘Devil of the Devil’ below. For tickets click here.

4. Carlow: Carlow Arts Festival
What: The Carlow Arts Festival is now in its 36th year of championing the arts. A vibrant and dynamic arts programme has been running throughout the festival and it all wraps up this weekend. For more information about the events taking place click here.

5. Kildare: Racing at The Curragh
What: There’s nothing better than a great day at the races. Head to the Curragh this Sunday to enjoy a whole day of races including the TRM Ballyogan Stakes at 3.40pm.
