However, we did not expect these results from the National Survey of Sex and Behaviour in the US.
As part of the research, 1,931 US adults were asked about their sexual experiences, including the frequency of their orgasms.
While the major orgasm gap between the genders wasn't too much of a surprise (91 per cent male orgasm success vs. female 54 per cent), other results came as a BIT of a shock.
A handy chart which shows the positions which are most effective in achieving orgasm outlines that the best position for a woman to climax is in fact receiving anal sex.
A whopping 94 per cent of women interviewed who had recently partook in the act reported successful orgasm.
However, there is a catch.
Only 31 per cent of women interviewed admitted to having engaged in anal sex, throwing the final result a little askew.
There are also other factors involved - such as clitoral stimulation and build up.
One thing is for sure though, those that mixed up their positions more often were more successful in achieving orgasm.
