Men claim they are better at a lot of things, and we know they’re not.

But now we have proof of one thing we are definitely better at, and it is keeping friends.

Women are twice as good as men at making friends for life, a new study reveals.

One in three women say their best friend is someone they met at school.

But men don’t stay that close with their buddies apparently, as only one in six (16 per cent) count their current best friend as someone from their class.

Men seem to be more open to new friendships in later life as it revealed guys are far more likely to find pals at university or at work.

The study also revealed a bit about our friend-making on Facebook.

One in four men and a third of women used online social networks to find childhood pals again.

And although both sexes may have hundreds of Facebook friends at the click of a button, the study reveals they have only five really close ones.

A worrying 13 per cent of men and 16 per cent of women revealed there’s at least one person in their friendship group they don’t actually like.

The workplace proved to be a good friend-maker as it revealed that 37 per cent of friendships are forged in the workplace.

The study of 2,000 adults was carried out by the drinks firm Orangina.
