Allegations of sexual misconduct surrounding Bill Clinton have resurfaced this week, following an alarming tweet from his former staffer.

Juanita Broaddrick worked for Clinton in the 70s and alleges that he forcefully had sex with her in a hotel room in Little Rock when he was the Arkansas attorney general.

The now 73-year-old originally made the accusation in the late nineties in the wake of other sexual misconduct claims against Clinton, including the Monica Lewinsky expose.

Now, seventeen years later, she has taken to Twitter to maintain her claims.

She tweeted: “I was 35 years old when Bill Clinton, Ark. Attorney General raped me and Hillary tried to silence me. I am now 73… it never goes away.”

In an interview with Vox, Broaddrick confirmed that she sent the tweet and explained that she decided to make the allegation again because of Hillary’s high visibility in the run-up to the election.

She said: “I guess it was just seeing them on TV so much now, and her [Hillary] with the Benghazi [hearing]. ‘That was impossible, to watch her during that, and now having to see her on the TV, and on the TV campaigning –

“That was impossible, to watch her during that, and now having to see her on the TV, and on the TV campaigning – it’s torture. I have to grab and switch my TV every time I turn around.”

Although Broaddrick only tweeted this week, her historic allegation has haunted Hillary’s campaign, reports CNN.

When Hillary tweeted, “Every survivor of sexual assault deserves to be heard, believed and supported”, users replied “*cough* Juanita Broaddrick *cough*”.
