There’s also a Status Yellow rain warning in place for six counties.
Yes, yes, we know.
It’s November. It’s dark. It’s gloomy. It’s miserable.
All we are asking for is one day without rain. Please.
Alas, it’s not to be, as Met Éireann has today issued a Status Yellow wind warning for the country, and a Status Yellow rainfall warning for the counties of Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry.
The wind warning came into effect at 6am this morning and remains in place until 6pm on Sunday evening with the forecaster predicting: “westerly winds will reach mean speeds of 45 km to 55km/h and gusts of 80 to 100km/h during Saturday/Sunday”.
Meanwhile, the rainfall warning is in place from 6am this morning until 3pm on Sunday, with “accumulations of 25-50mm likely over the weekend”.
Motorists in these areas are being advised to take extra care when out and about.
