Why You May Never Want To Eat A Fast Food Chicken Nugget Again… This Is What A Chicken Process Plant Worker Has To Say

And how all Chicken McNuggets come in one of four distinct shapes...

There are plenty of us who would rather not know where our food comes from, but many more of us have this niggling need to know how our meals are made… and just how Chicken McNuggets are processed…

Link-sharing website Reddit regularly host “Ask Me Anything” sessions where an employee/character/personality answer internet users’ questions about their everyday lives for an hour or so.

During a recent session, a current employee of a chicken processing plant was glad to answer questions… along with admitting that he/she would never eat chicken nuggets from a fast food joint ever again.

Working 40 hours a week with bird parts could turn anyone off chicken, but he only admits avoiding fast food chicken nuggets. Everything else he will still eat.

One Reddit user asked, “So how much of what we’re eating is actual meat?”

He replied: “Basically anything you buy in stores such as breasts, tenders, whole birds = 100% meat. So no worries there. Chicken nuggets from fast food restaurants… not so much. Lol [sic]”

So what’s in the nuggets that he refuses to eat?

“Oh, it’s all chicken. It’s just not all meat. Some of it is skin, a few bones, fat and whatever meat might still be attached to any of the previous mentioned.”

He was asked once again what product he won’t touch and the reply came, “Chicken nuggets from fast food places. Trust me.”

So what about the frozen nuggets in the store?

“Well, I’m not entirely sure,” he wrote, “but I’d say if they make them like that for fast food, they probably make them like that for stores as well.”

It has also been revealed recently that McDonalds’ Chicken McNuggets come in one four distinct shapes, the bow-tie, the boot, the bell or the ball. The question was sparked when Reddit user eclectickellie posted this photo to the website:

The four distinct Chicken McNugget shapes… said to be so to control portion size and to ensure food safety.
