Why is it That Colour?! Would You Eat This Suspicious Looking Japanese Delicacy?

Our stomachs may have churned a bit.

Say hello to the Black Terra, a rather disturbing coloured hot dog that all yours to munch on if you head over to Tokyo.

The charcoal black hot dog is apparently over 30cms in length and seriously looks like it’s been out in the sun for far too long.

So how is this hot dog so black? Well, according to Oddity Central:

Some people claim the buns and sausage are infused with squid ink for coloring, but according to a number of reports in the Japanese media, Vegas Premium Hot-Dogs actually uses edible bamboo charcoal powder, which is used as a food dye throughout Asia.

The Black Terra Hot-Dog costs ¥600 or abour $6 and can be got at Vegas Premium Hot-Dogs, in Akihabara, Tokyo. You know we might think we’ll pass on this one….
