Yup, we’re serious, and yes, we have spent a few hours searching random people’s surnames.
Aside from searching our own name, our mother’s maiden name and a load of variations on the same, we also looked up some famous people’s surnames to see where it all began, with pretty interesting results…
Take ‘Kardashian’ as an example. Approximately 501 people have the surname, mainly in the US and Mexico and it’s the 483,533rd most common surname in the world.
Now how about our very own Ryan Tubridy? Well apparently, 836 people share his surname and it is most common in the US and well, Ireland.
Not that surprising really.
The best fun I got out of it all though had to be when I searched my name, ‘McGuire’ which apparently means I am somehow connected to a King of Scotland.
I’m not at all surprised by that in the slightest.
