Their former mid-afternoon superstars Dermot & Dave have moved to sister station Today FM, but Dublin radio station 98FM has today announced a replacement they believe listeners will be happy to hear about.
Dara Quilty will join the on-air line-up at 98FM following six years at yet another Communicorp sister station, Spin103.8. The presenter will take over Dermot & Dave’s former slot with a show called The Big RIDE HOME, weekdays from 4pm – 7pm, starting in late August.
Speaking about the new gig Dara said: “I’m delighted to make the move to 98FM and develop as a solo presenter. The station actually gave me my first gig holding a balloon on Grafton Street – there were 300 of us holding them, but I’m the only one who still works in the business today! Having been part of a duo for the past few years on Spin 103.8 I’m really looking forward to the challenge of ridin’ solo on 98FM!”
Speaking about the introduction of Dara to 98FM, Station Manager Michael Brett said, “Dara is an exciting addition to the 98FM family. His youth and energy will bring a really fresh approach to the drivetime slot and we look forward to welcoming him into the fold and adding him to our already strong line-up.”
As well as presenting for radio, Quilty was the first host of RTE’s Two Tube but made the switch to radio in 2007. Dara won a PPI after his first year on-air with SPIN 1038 on ‘The Lock In’, the youngest presenter to achieve this award.
