It’s 2013, five years since the Irish recession began, and an emigration trend means that there are now Irish in every corner of the world.
They’re keen to immerse themselves in a new culture, but also intent on keeping their own traditions and loves alive.
And one of these is, without doubt, the hurley, the “hurl”, “the real game”, hurling…
All-Blacks rugby star Dan Carter passed by a group of Irish lads playing hurling today in Christchurch and decided to tweet about it.
One hour later, he tweets a photo of himself attempting a solo himself. Talk about a cool guy… (and he’s not bad looking either).
