Irish people have ranked at 13th out of a survey of 29 countries of the people least likely to rob items from hotel rooms. The Irish position in the list was due to the fact that 75% of Irish travellers have never pocketed anything from a hotel room.
The survey, which was conducted by Hotels.com shows that the Danish are the most likely to not steal from their rooms, with a whopping 88% never having stolen anything before.
Holiday makers have admitted to taking magazines, books and cosmetic items but other items can include linen, towels, bath robes and even in some cases, furniture. 10% of Irish people have admitted to taking linens and towels, while only 6% have taken a bath robe.
Top of the list in the honest category was Denmark, followed by the Netherlands with 85% saying they never stole an item and Norway in third place, according to Newstalk.
Alison Couper from Hotels.com said “While we all love that holiday feeling, it seems travellers in some countries are taking this a bit too far by removing a wide variety of items from their hotel room to take home with them as a memento of their stay”.
The survey was conducted in January, covering 28 countries and taking a sample from 8,600 respondents.
