We Can Relate: Drunk Texting and Tweeting to be Very Troublesome in New Bridget Jones Novel

Finally, the woman who captured our hearts in the 90s is back...

We’ve been waiting 14 long years for this! Looks like Helen Fielding’s hilarious comic creation is set to return to our shelves this October.

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, the third novel in the series is due out at the end of the year, and frankly we can’t wait to get our hands on it.

In her latest adventure, it’s been revealed that Bridget will be grappling with the fast-paced and often cringey world of social media and the embarrassment of drunk texting.

“Do not text when drunk,” says Bridget, in a diary excerpt that was released on Twitter and Facebook, “A text is gone at the brush of a fingertip, like a nuclear bomb or Exocet missile.”

Bridget Jones’s Diary was released way back in 1996, and was followed by a sequel three years later, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.

Between them, the two novels have sold more than 15 million copies worldwide.

The Bridget Jones story also carried over into two films with American actress Renée Zellweger, starring alongside the floppy-haired Hugh Grant and lovable Colin Firth.

Let’s just relive that brilliant fireman’s pole moment one more time shall we?

According to the publisher, the new novel will also be published as an e-book and audiobook.

No more details on the plot of the new novel have been made public but we’re pretty sure that someone will get their knickers in a twist!
