Watch: Young Basketball Players Stop Game to Intervene as Supporter with Down Syndrome is Bullied

With young gentlemen like this in the world, there's hope for the future.

Desiree Andrews is a student and cheerleader at Lincoln Middle School in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

She also happens to have Down Syndrome.

One of Desiree’s passions is supporting her school’s basketball team, but that joy was almost spoiled for her recently when another spectator began to bully her during a game.

When three of the players on the team noticed what was happening in the stands, they walked off court to intervene.

Chase Vazquez, Miles Rodriguez and Scooter Terrain, all players with the Lincoln Middle School basketball team, confronted the offending party and demanded that he stop.

Now, Desiree has three brand new friends to spend her school days with, and she has become the unofficial mascot of the team and their home venue.

The team and other students have since nicknamed their home gym “Dee’s House,” and the school’s athletic director has revealed plans to put the name on an official banner.

It’s good news for the young gentlemen too – with Chase, Miles and Scooter all set to receive citizenship awards from The Kenosha city council.
