2015 has been an incredible year.
It’s the year the world stood in solidarity with #CharlieHebdo, the year we fought for the #Right2Water and the year #LoveWins.
Twitter has released the top trends in Ireland and the results will certainly make you feel proud. Naturally, the marriage referendum dominated the Twittersphere with #MarRef, #VoteYes, #YesEquality and #Hometovote making up four of the top five trends. The 5th, surprisingly, was #Repealthe8th.
During the Marriage Referendum vote, from the time the polls opened at 7am on May 22nd until 7pm on May 23rd, there were over 400k tweets sent for #MarRef with people tweeting pictures from before and after they sent their vote.
In politics #Irishwater takes the top spot, followed by #Right2Water and #Budget16.
Globally, the dress sparked an insanely large conversation, with more than 4.4M tweets posted on February 26th and 27th. Was the dress #BlueandBlack or #WhiteandGold?
In worldwide news #jobs, #Quran and #ISIS took the top spots with #PrayForParis and #LoveWins completing the top five.
Ariana Grande was the most tweeted about starlet. It was also the year that Caitlyn Jenner smashed records with the fastest-growing account.
Adrian Brody, Diana Ross and Chase Crawford all joined for the first time. Obama also finally joined the cool kids.
Hello, Twitter! It’s Barack. Really! Six years in, they’re finally giving me my own account.
