The Australian Open is facing a huge sexism row after the women’s world number seven Eugenie Bouchard was asked to twirl following her victory on court.
Bouchard had just beaten Netherlands’ Kiki Bertens, but instead of quizzing the 20 year old on her victory, she was instead asked by a Channel 7 interviewer Ian Cohen for the request and to “tell us about your outfit.”
The Canadian is clearly confused by the request, but Cohen insists, explaining he wants the tennis star to twirl “like a pirouette”.

The presenter Cohen also asked court legend and world number one Serena Williams to twirl after her win on Tuesday.
Although Serena obliged, she later said she felt incredibly awkward by the request, telling media:
“I wouldn’t ask Rafa or Roger to twirl. I didn’t really want to twirl because I was just like, you know, I don’t need all the extra attention.”
The star refused to comment on whether she had found the request sexist.
