There is no doubt that the attention being brought to Motor Neuron Disease through the Ice Bucket Challenge and the monies raised is incredible, but is a person’s brief discomfort really the right way to highlight a cause? That’s the argument one Australian newsreader makes in this pretty powerful clip.

Lincoln Humphries, started a broadcast by nominating “everyone everywhere” before beautifully shutting down the idea of ice bucket challenge.

The Queensland-based presenter acknowledged the great work being done but suggested other ways we could all make a difference.

Lincoln speaks about spreading the love around to deserving causes such as cancer charities, a problem that affects almost everyone, the Red Cross, Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul and fresh water campaigns.

Watch the compelling clip in full below, it certainly serves as food for thought.
