Prepare to have your heart melted quite possibly the most adorable elderly couple ever.
We’ve all heard the rumours that romance was dead but fret not Notebook lovers and hopeless romantics out there, we have video evidence to prove that it is very much still alive and well.
86-year-old Joan Culberwell and 84-year-old Thomas McGonigal were walking through a Boots pharmacy in Wolverhampton when they heard a busker outside playing one of their favourite songs on accordion.
Being the absolute gentleman that he is, Thomas asked his wife for a dance and the pair began waltzing in the middle of the shopping street.
The couple have been together for 40 years after meeting in a dance class in the 70s. What’s that? Your heart just melted slightly? Thought so.
In an interview with The Metro retired bricklayer Thomas explained how the street waltz came about.
“It wasn’t a planned thing, Joan and I were walking through town to Boots when we stopped to listen to a busker.
“He was playing a medley of lovely ballroom tunes and I could sense Joan moving her feet. I was tapping along and just said to her “may I take this dance?” and that was that”.
We’ve watched this a few times in office and we must admit three things – 1) It restored our faith in both men and love. 2) There was resounding ‘Awwww’ for the duration of the video. 3) We really want someone to waltz with us in the middle of the street.
If you know any gentleman that would like to kindly give us that dance, feel free to send him our way.
