This is a message that resonates regardless of what age you are.
A student in New Zealand has been heralded this week as a shining inspiration to his classmates and people the world over after he delivered an incredibly powerful speech at his graduation ceremony, which was spotted by our bros over at JOE.ie.
Eighteen-year-old Jack Bailey was told just a week before he gave this speech that he would die within weeks if he didn’t receive immediate treatment for a rare form of cancer.
Speaking on the night, Jack, who is the head boy at Christchurch Boys’ High School in New Zealand, said: “A week before I was due to deliver that speech tonight they said, “You’ve got cancer”.
“They told me I wouldn’t be here tonight to deliver that speech… But luckily, that speech isn’t about what’s to come,” he added.
He goes on to deliver a powerful, emotional and hugely inspirational speech – a speech that warranted a standing ovation from all of those in attendance, and warrants a standing ovation from everyone who watches it.
