Are you trying to find some romance? If you’re fed up of the traditional ways of dating why not take a leaf out of Sandy McCulloch’s book and try something different?

The 82-year-old is currently on the hunt for a wife and he’s convinced he’ll find the one by wearing a sign around his next that states: “Wanted: a wife.” Well you have to hand it to him, that’s one way of finding love.

“People look for a wife for different reasons when they are 20 or 25 than when they are my age,” said Sandy, speaking about his unique method.

“I’m looking for companionship,” he added.

Sandy, who has been through three divorces already, says that he’s at that stage in his life now where he feels he has learned from his past mistakes. Sandy doesn’t sugar-coat things – he openly describes his younger self as being an “emotional cripple” but now he knows what he should do in order to have a happy relationship.

According to reports, Sandy was inspired to try his unusual dating method last month when a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Centre caught his eye.

Sandy was waiting in the main entrance to have coffee with one of the hospital ministers when the volunteer asked him if he needed any help. He declined her offer, but she checked with him twice more. Sandy then had his bright idea.

“There is one piece of assistance you can give me. I need a wife,” said Sandy.

Sandy hopes his unique approach will help him to have a second chance at love

He admits that he was joking at first but then the volunteer told him there were lots of single women his age at the hospital and that he could wear a sign on his neck to let them know he was available. So that’s exactly what Sandy did.

Sandy’s sign states that he wants a wife who is over the age of 60, who loves books, has a great sense of humour and who lives in his hometown of Corvallis in Oregon. Sandy has said that he will only wear his sign in specific places, such as the deli where he sells books that he has written.

“The response was rather amazing and delightful,” said Sandy, speaking about the first time he wore his sign in public.

“It’s the closest I’ve ever come to being a rock star in a room full of people,” he added.

Sandy now has plans to test his sign in the hospital lobby, the local library and maybe a Starbucks. We wish him all the best in his quest!
