The Simon Community have been tackling the issue of homelessness in Ireland for years now, celebrating their 40th anniversary in Dublin back in 2009.

Recently the charity posted the inspiring story of one homeless man, Neil.

In this video Neil shares with us his everyday experiences, fears and the challenges he endured.

Neil became a part of the Simon Community’s housing scheme, after becoming homeless when his wife passed away and he was unable to cope with his loss.

The Irish Government have stated they wish to end long-term homelessness by 2016, however set out to cut the funding for those most vulnerable in our society.

‘Home for Good’ is a campaign set up to help prevent such cuts, and encourage the public to stand up for those who need the biggest helping hand.

Watch and share Neil’s incredible story and help promote the marvelous work of the Simon Community by supporting the ‘Home for Good’ campaign. Sign the petition here and do your small bit to help prevent crucial homeless services from being cut.
