The My Hero charity single was composed and recorded within four hours by a group of Transition Year students in Clonmel.
They were assisted by singer/songwriter Luan Parle & producer Gavin Raslton during an IMRO songwriting workshop for RTE’s Big Music Week.
My Hero was inspired by their late teacher Alice Strain, who tragically died in a car accident earlier this year.
Speaking about the release of the single Alice’s sister Vera said;
“It’s just wonderful, really fantastic. Alice would have been so proud of the girls. She thought of them as her second family. She loved her job and her students and this song is the most wonderful tribute.This has given the whole family a huge lift at such a hard time. It’s brought light into our lives at a time of darkness”.
The students are making a bid for the Irish Christmas number one spot.
My Hero is available to download on iTunes and all proceeds go the the St Vincent De Paul Charity
