For 25 years, Saroo Brierley didn’t know where he came from. At the age of five, after falling asleep on a train, Saroo became lost in India, separated from his family and very much alone.
He survived on the streets of Kolkata, before he was adopted from an orphanage by an Australian couple. Despite his happiness with his new family, Saroo always thought about his origins and spent many hours looking at the map of India on his bedroom wall.
This is his extraordinary story of how he used Google Earth to find his long-lost home town and his family.
Though clearly a blatant marketing ad for Google, Saroo’s true story is pretty inspiring, and definitely shows the power of sheer determination and technology.
