Vegetable Thief! 600 Pumpkins Have Gone Missing from a New York Farm

Someone out there must REALLY love pumpkins.

Halloween is coming fast up the track but looks like one farm is already on a mystery hunt to find a pumpkin thief!

A whopping 600 pumpkins were stolen from Rottkamp’s Fox Hollow Farm on Long Island in New York.

“It’s just an unfortunate situation,” said Lolly Rottkamp, who owns the farm with her son. “A lot of other stands have had robberies also.”

“Somebody’s on a rampage,” she said.

Police are currently investigating the incident and the pumpkins are said to be worth $4,200.

“Obviously, whoever took them is going to sell them,” said Detective Timothy Hubbard of the Riverhead Town Police.

He continued, “our roads our here are filled with people coming from out west to pick pumpkins and cornstalks. It’s almost like a second season for our farmers out here”

“I can’t imagine anybody having another use for 600 pumpkins,” he added. “That would be a lot of pie.”

According to NBC, the 250-acre farm has been owned by the Rottkamp family since 1967.

Keep your eyes peeled if you’re invited to a big pumpkin fest this Halloween. Or if you see 600 people doing this:
