London here we come!
There was good news for airline passengers in the south west this week as CityJet announced that they will be running a high-frequency service between Cork and London City Airport.
The new service will be kicking off in October – just in time for Christmas shopping – and will see 18 flights a week being run between the two airports.
The news, which broke earlier this week, has been met with delight by people around Cork and the south west.
Speaking at the announcement, CityJet boss Pat Byrne revealed the reasons behind the new service.
“The main reason for this growth is because the leisure market has discovered that this is not just a business airline, and London City Airport is not just a business airport,” he said.

“From disembarking the aircraft in London, you can be in the West End within 35 minutes.”
Meanwhile, according to a report in the Irish Examiner, Irish carrier Aer Lingus is also set to announce a new Cork to Dusseldorf service next week.
