We knew the weather wasn’t going to be great this weekend but it seems the worst has been saved ‘til last.

And there we were planning a day trip to the beach with our sunglasses and all packed in the bag!

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow weather warning for today. It covers nine counties altogether – Cork, Dublin, Kerry, Louth, Meath, Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow.

Approximately 25-45mm of rainfall is expected in Southern parts of Munster and Leinster with strong winds throughout the day.

The warning is in place until midnight tonight.

Highest temperatures for today will be between 12 and 15 degrees Celsius. These will drop this evening with lowest temperatures around 8 to 12 degrees.

Tonight is expected to be wet with heavy showers in places and easterly or southeasterly winds. In some parts, the showers will be isolated.

The rest of the week isn’t looking too good either with more rain, windy conditions and cold temperatures expected.

As always, if you are out and about today, take extra care.
