Kerry’s most famous dolphin is not dead despite Twitter rumours that he had gone off to animal heaven.
Tourist attraction, Fungi, has been swimming around in Dingle’s harbour for years but word on the street was that he had died.
Fungi has been popping up in Dingle’s harbour for decades.
But thankfully a couple of local people spotted him and set the record (and Twitter) straight, according to reports this morning.
A Dolphin Boat Tours spokeswoman told the Irish Sun: “The weather is too bad today but I can confirm I saw him yesterday alive and well. He is definitely still alive. The rumours aren’t true.”
The popular dolphin is a bottlenose which has a life expectancy of 25 years.
Kerry County Council also confirmed that the fin-tastic Fungi, who has become somewhat of a national treasure and a popular tourist attraction, was still swimming around.
