Save money and do some good for the world around you by using simple measures to conserve energy in the home. If you’re not sure where to start – don’t worry! We’ll be bringing you one great energy-saving tip every day for the next month.
9. Wash your clothes all in one go
We all know that doing the laundry can be a bit of a chore, but here’s one way to speed through your washing and save money (and energy!) at the same time.
If possible, allow your dirty clothes to build up so you have several loads to wash. Dedicate one morning/afternoon/evening to doing your washing.
Wash and dry several loads of clothes as quickly as you can. By doing this, your dryer won’t have the time to cool down in between loads, so it will use less energy when it comes to heating up in order to dry the next load.
The result for you is that all your washing gets done in the space of a few hours and you help to decrease the price of your next electricity bill.
If you want to save even more money, why not the ditch the dryer completely? The next time you have a bright, windy day outside take full advantage of the weather by hanging your clothes out to dry. They’ll feel/smell fresher and you’re less likely to cause any damage to your clothing as a result of too much heat. Plus, wind-drying clothes is a process that’s completely free. Perfect or what?
