True Love – Couple Married For 70 Years Die 15 Hours Apart

A touching story.

Cathy Donohue

Hearing that a couple married for 70 years passed away within 15 hours of each other, melted our hearts.

Helen Felumlee (92), from Nashport, Ohio, died on April 12th 2014, and her husband, Kenneth (91) died the following morning.

The couple had eight children and were deeply in love until the very end, according to their daughter Linda Cody.

“We knew when one went, the other was going to go,” she said.

Linda said that after her mother had died, their father quickly took a turn for the worse and was surrounded by 24 close friends and family members when he died the next morning.

Kenneth and Helen were so in love that on one occasion, they opted to share a single bunk bed on a ferry rather than spend one night apart and they would eat breakfast while holding hands.

They married in Feburary of 1944, choosing to elope as they were too young to get married in Ohio and couldn’t wait any longer to make things official.

When Kenneth retired in 1983 the couple began to travel, visiting almost all 50 American states by bus.

Both Kenneth and Helen’s health had started to decline in recent years but still they kept strong for each other, “that’s what kept them going,” Linda said.

This made us shed a tear (or ten).
