Bowe meanwhile was stretchered off during Ireland’s quarter-final clash with Argentina, and now Ulster has confirmed that he suffered posterior cruciate ligament injuries.
The talented player underwent surgery on Monday and a statement from the province revealed that it will take up to six months for him to recover.
“He [Bowe] had successful surgery to repair the damage yesterday and he will be ruled out for at least six months,” it read.
Tommy Bowe sustained the injury in the Rugby World Cup.
Meanwhile, Jared Payne and Iain Henderson are also on the injury list according to the statement.
Henderson will undergo surgery this week to stabilise a joint in his hand, while Jared Payne also underwent surgery on his fractured foot.
