Are you tired of spending lots of money on a nice dinner that you feel you have to work off at the gym the next day? Or maybe you’re finding it hard to come up with something fun and healthy for you and your other half to do at home during the week.
Whatever the reason, it’s good to have a healthy, but enjoyable, night in from time to time. Before you even think about it, there is wine and plenty of food involved.
This week we’re opting for a relaxing DVD night on the sofa finished off with a bottle of Black Tower wine and lots of tasty snacks.
Olympus Has Fallen (15) is the film release of the week. Gerard Butler stars as Mike Branning, a former Presidential guard, who turns out to be the White House’s only hope after it gets taken over by a group of ruthless terrorists eager to ruin America.
As everyone knows, a good film deserves a good accompaniment and we’ve picked out a few for you to choose from starting with one of the new low-alcohol, low-calorie B wines by Black Tower.
To go along with a glass of that we’ve got two recipes for your quiet night in (that is if popcorn isn’t your thing): Tortilla Chips with Guacamole and Tropical Fruit Salad with Cashew Nuts.
1. Tortilla Chips with Guacamole
Ingredients: 4 avocados, juice of 3 lime, ¼ chopped white onion, ¼ cup sour cream, 2 chopped plum tomatoes, salt and pepper.
Method: Pit and peel the avocados before placing them in a bowl. Add in the lime juice, onions, sour cream as well as a large pinch of salt and pepper and mash. Fold in the tomatoes and serve with tortilla chips.
2. Tropical Fruit Salad with Cashew Nuts
Ingredients: chopped mango, chopped kiwi, chopped cashew nuts, Greek yogurt.
Method: Throw the mango and kiwi into a dish. Pour over the Greek yogurt (or low-fat ice-cream) before sprinkling the cashew nuts over the top.
