Are you wondering if your current fella is the one? There are a few simple signs that can help you to decode whether he’s in it for the long haul or if you should just cut your losses and move on.

Dating isn’t always easy and we know that finding someone who you want to build a good, healthy relationship with is hard. However, so many women go against their gut instincts and stay in relationships that aren’t right for them.

Sometimes we tend to think that any problems or ‘red flags’ that we notice will eventually smooth themselves out over time. We think that no relationship is 100 per cent perfect and any problems or worries are completely natural.

In many respects this can be true but there are certain signs that you can spot early on which blatantly tell you that he’s not the one and there’s someone much better out there for you. If you notice any of these warning signs, then it’s time to sit down and think about your options.

Do you struggle to find things to talk about?

You have nothing to say to each other: Sure he’s gorgeous and the sex is amazing but when you’re not in bed together you struggle to actually talk to each other. You have no common interests, you don’t have the same sense of humour and you struggle to find one topic that you can really engage him with.

There’s an old saying that states you should always “marry your best friend” and this is so true. Sex is an important part of any relationship, but it needs substance too. If you can’t talk to him how can you tackle any problems or obstacles that life throws at you further down the line?

You censor yourself around him: We’ll be blunt: if you feel like you have to ‘tone down’ your personality or be someone else when you’re with him, then you’re wasting your time. Long-term relationships should be comfortable and fun for both people. True love is when someone accepts you for who you are, completely and utterly. If you can’t be yourself around him, then what’s the point?

You feel uneasy around him: If he makes you feel scared, worried, on edge or just uneasy then it’s a clear sign that something is wrong. Again, you should be completely comfortable with someone when you’re in a relationship with them. If it feels bad, get out.

You can’t talk about important things with him: While not every conversation in your relationship has to be deep or important, it can be hard to really find a connection with someone if you feel like you can’t talk about the important things with him. If he shies away every time you try to open up about how you feel, it’s not a good sign.

He’s a liar: Honesty is one of the fundamentals when it comes to relationships. If you’ve noticed that your current fella has a habit of fibbing to you (even about small things) keep your wits about you. If he thinks that being dishonest is okay, then chances are he will end up lying to you about something big as your relationship plays out.
