Thought You’d Never Get To Wear That Dress Again? Well Now You Can, For A Great Cause!

Was it a wedding dress, a debs dress, a dinner dance ensemble or a Christmas party outfit? Whip it out and wear it again, this time to the Bridal Belles Ball where all proceeds go to The Samaritans. We couldn't think of a better reason to wear that dress again...

It’s always fantastic fun to get dolled up for an occasion… In fact, we stick by our opinion that getting ready is always half the excitement for weddings, debs balls, dinner dances and parties.

And we can all relate to the anti-climax the next day, not just the fuzzy head but the fact that the excitement is over or, worse, we’ll never get to wear that beautiful dress again…

Well, we have very good news for you… now you can wear the dress again, while raising much-needed money for charity too.

Be it a night out with the girls that involves more than the local that you’re craving, a romantic ball for you and your partner to enjoy or an excuse to get the family together, we have the event for you.

The Bridal Belles Ball gives you the chance to wear the dress you thought you’d never wear again. It could be your wedding dress (go on, go for it!), the formal dress you wore to that wedding last year, it could be your debs dress, it could even be a dress you picked up and have never worn…

The event is the brainchild of three friends, Sarah, Deirdre and Sorcha, who have all been affected by suicide and want to raise awareness for emotional support and the Samaritans in a unique and fun way.

“We lost my brother Paul to suicide 11 years ago when he was just 20,” Sarah said, “We wanted to tell his story and the hows, whys and why-nots of the end of his life, but we decided not to do that.

“Firstly Paul would actually hate that and secondly we don’t think how he dies should define how he was as a person, a fantastic all around terrific guy, everyone loved him, he was great craic, a great friend, a great brother, son, and he just loved life.

“We just wish he had felt he could have talked to somebody, anybody just to get it out there and maybe then he would be still here today.”

“It’s come to the point where the three of us want to do something positive,” Sarah said,”In Ireland, there was a tradition that people would never speak of suicide, but if people are speaking about it now and open to it, this will change.”

“Sarah wanted to support the Samaritans, they have a 24-hour hotline, a critical crisis service that absolutely anybody can ring and have a chat and share a problem,” Deirdre said, “We want to raise awareness of suicide but also celebrate the life of our friend Paul. The ball is fun, fresh and light-hearted.”

“Sarah and Sorcha are both married,” Deirdre said, “They’d planned their weddings for ages and suddenly it was all over. We were having a glass of wine and a chat about it and we thought, ‘hey, there’s something there’. So we’re casting the net wide, the ball is open to absolutely anybody and it will give you the chance to get that dress out on the dancefloor again!

“If this year is a success, we’re thinking of making the Bridal Belles Ball an annual event and move it to different counties. We’re hoping it will be on people’s social calendar.”
