Issues around sexual consent are a hot topic recently.
The subject is tricky, with many ‘blurred lines’, but we think this new video released by the Thames Valley Police comparing tea with sexual consent hits the nail on the head.
The video endeavours to explain what exactly constitutes consent, using our favourite past-time, drinking tea, as a comparison.
The ad is part of the #ConsentisEverything campaign, and outlines various scenarios in which the lines appear to be ‘blurred’ in a bid to clear up any confusion.
Justin Fletcher, Detective Chief Inspector of Thames Valley Police, explained:
“The law is very clear. Sex without consent is rape. Awareness of what sexual consent means and how to get it is vital.
“The campaign is just one of the ways in which Thames Valley police has been working with our partners within Thames Valley Sexual Violence Prevention Group to support people affected by sexual assault and rape.”
