This Spider Is A Good Enough Reason to Separate Cork from the Rest of the Country

Leave Cork. Leave now.

Rebecca McKnight

We’re not ones to overreact, but if someone could quickly construct a wall large enough to separate Cork from the rest of the country, that would be just great.

There has been a lot of talk about giant spiders across the country in recent weeks, an unfortunate reality of the changing seasons, but this guy takes the cake. And by the looks of him, he ate said cake.

The good folks manning the Cork Flood Alerts Facebook page brought this monster to public attention, saying: “Unrelated to flood alerts* I apologise in advance, I know theres been a lot of posts about big spiders in Ireland recently. We discovered this guy on our back door today. Surely he cant be native to Ireland? I have never seen a spider of this size wild in Ireland… I’ve contacted UCC and Fota Wildlife Park regarding the same to see if they can identify the species.” [SIC]

According to page admins, the spider was snapped in Oven, Co. Cork.

If you’re anywhere nearby… GET OUT OF THE OVEN.
