Say it isn’t so!
Spotify are reportedly planning on introducing restrictions on the content that is available to free users.
According to both Digital Music News and Billboard, sources have revealed that free users may not have access to the same content as premium users from 2016.
It has been reported that they are apparently considering that free users may have access to a limited selection of songs from an album, but will then have to pay to upgrade in order to hear the full release.
“[Spotify] want the free users to feel like they’re missing something, not just forced to listen to ads,” a source told Digital Music News.
It has also been reported that the possible shift in Spotify’s policy may be as a result of pressure from music labels.
However, none of these reports have been confirmed.
