Safyre's father shielded her from the blaze with his body, but she suffered burns on over 75 per cent of her body and has faced numerous surgeries and challenges in her recovery.
She is now in the custody of her paternal aunt, Liz Dolder, who told Buzzfeed:
"Safyre has had multiple operations, over 50. She had lost her right hand three months after the fire and lost her left foot in March.
"She continues to have problems with her mouth due to the scar tissue tightening up. Her next operation on January 5th."
Dolder explained to the site that Safyre loves Christmas and that she bought a tree to hang cards on for the little girl.
When Safyre saw the tree, she told her aunt how excited she was at the prospect of filling it up with cards, but Dolder noted that they probably wouldn't receive enough cards to do so.
She said: "We maybe get 10 cards a year, and the card tree holds 100."
So Dolder took to Facebook and posted a request for Christmas cards which has garnered a lot of attention and even a campaign on Imgur.
The callout has received a huge response, with many people eager to send cards to the little girl.
The address to send cards to is
P.O. Box 6126
Schenectady, NY 12306, USA.

I’m a 35-year-old in HR, earning €26k, and this was my biggest financial mistake Let’s be honest, most of us are at least a little bit nosy when it comes to money. We want to know what other people are earning, how they’re actually getting by, and what their spending really looks like (not the […]
