The past couple of years has seen a number of missing planes and aircraft, with experts constantly attempting new ways to track down missing flights.
Benjamin Jensen was watching a TV show about missing planes when he came up with a plan to help officials locate aircraft that crash into the sea.
According to the MailOnline, the 8-year old suggested the idea of having giant orange balloons with transmitters floating to the surface in the event of a plane crashing into the ocean.
He even sketched the plans and included them in an email he sent to Delta airlines.
He never expected to get a reply…
Speaking to media, Benjamin’s mum Laura said:
“He’s always been interested in aviation, particularly in the design of military airplanes. At first we thought (the package) was a birthday gift because he’s turning nine next week. But when we saw who it was from he started jumping up and down and saying ‘I got Delta! I got Delta!’”
What Benjamin wasn’t expecting was a reply package from Senior Vice President of Security John E. Laughter:
As well as thanking Benjamin for his letter, Laughter told him that he really liked his idea and would be sharing it with his colleagues:
‘I work with many Delta people, The Federal Aviation Administration, and airplane manufactures to solve problems such as airline tracking in an emergency. There are lots of experts thinking about ideas just like you sent us. I will make sure to share your plans with them!’
He also got a surprise gift package for his troubles.
The fact that he’s this smart, at just 8-years old, we think Benjamin has a great career ahead of him pursuing his passion.
