Alright lads and lassies, full disclosure, it’s Monday morning and I’m already daydreaming about winning the lotto and taking up residence beside the sea.
Thanks to my insatiable desire to depress myself by researching the housing market, I came across this humble house palace.
It is the most expensive house in Dublin currently listed and it’s fairly easy to see why.
The palace is a 6-bedroom is located on Coliemore Road, Dalkey.
It’s absolutely massive and comes equipped with its own harbor for your boat and/or jet skis. The harbour is one of only two in private hands in Dublin and provides direct sea access.
The views from this place are just incredible and stretch from Dun Laoghaire over the bay to Howth peninsula, taking in the rocky sea shore and Dalkey Island and The Muglins.
According to the listing, the gaf was building in 1847 as a summer retreat for famed physician Sir Dominic Corrigan. He used to have parties with the likes of Kings Edward VII and George V of England.
The visits were commemorated by a crown and star set in pebbles into the patio terraces on either side of the front door along with elaborate plasterwork motifs throughout. Corrigan, himself, is commemorated in a granite bust over the front door.
The lower ground floor has a large family cinema room (Le Rêve), a home office, various storage and utility rooms and a great boiler room – ideal for drying your wetsuit and other miscellaneous sailing paraphernalia.
Still, at a hefty €10,500,000 it’d take more than a lotto win to get the keys to this place.
