This incredibly detailed ‘family contract’ led to this adorable dog being adopted

Remember when you were younger and you would full on barter with your parents for whatever you wanted?

Well as someone who promised my parents a lifetime of bliss, good results and general happiness in return for a dog, I know the struggle of wanting the seemingly impossible. My parents half-relented when I was 19 and arrived home with a Springer Spaniel named Polly. Luckily, four sisters seem to have broken their father down faster than most and convinced him to allow a furry four-legged friend to join the family. The agreement, however, is completely conditional on a set of very strict rules. Reddit user John Stone, shared the stringent contract that led to the adoption of their family dog. The contract detailed 13 conditions the children much adhere to. Highlights include:

1. Dad never has to pick up dog poop. Ever. The dog's poop is picked up at least 3 times per week by children to Dad's satisfaction.
2. The dog does not slobber or have a runny nose. All parties agree that those kind of dogs are gross.
3. Dad has unrestrictive veto power over the dog's name.
4. The dog is not included by name on the family Christmas card.
5. The kids promise to never fall out of love with the dog or get bored of it.

John explains that his three daughters Jessica, Casey and Samantha all signed willingly. True to his word, father John updated the Reddit community to say two weeks after contract was signed, the family adopted a 3-year-old white fluffy mutt from a shelter that weighs 15 lbs. It was already housetrained and doesn't shed or drool. They named him Kershaw (veto power not exercised).
