Jessica Baker and her husband were planning to attend a family wedding when her mum rang to say she couldn’t babysit the kids.
The wedding invite had specified no children, so the couple had no other options but to stay home from the wedding. They also made the decision not to tell the bride, so as not to upset her so last minute in the run-up to her wedding.
Unfortunately, it seems like that’s exactly what happened.
Earlier this week Jessica received post from the bride… a bill for $75.90 to cover the cost of two meals they never got to eat.
The bill read:
“This cost reflects the amount paid by the bride and groom for meals that were RSVP’d for, reimbursement and explanation for no show, card, call or text would be appreciated.”
Speaking to her local news stations, Jessica told KARE-11:
“You’ve got to be kidding me. It listed, we would have had two herb crusted walleye and there was also a service and tax charge.
“I guess I don’t know what the right answer would have been. What the right thing to do would have been.”
With around 10 per cent of all wedding guests considered a ‘no-show’, wedding planner Sarah Baumann Rogers said:
“Under no circumstances should you choose to follow up after the fact...kind of questioning why they couldn’t attend or much less sending a bill.”

‘I’m a 35-year-old in HR, earning €26k, and this was my biggest financial mistake’
I’m a 35-year-old in HR, earning €26k, and this was my biggest financial mistake Let’s be honest, most of us are at least a little bit nosy when it comes to money. We want to know what other people are earning, how they’re actually getting by, and what their spending really looks like (not the […]
