So, you want to go to the States?

Talk to anyone you know and most people will have fond memories of their J1 experiences. It’s almost a rite of passage for Irish students and it will definitely be one of the best summers of your life.

Whether you decide to try your luck in New York, head out West and see what the fuss is about in California or really get stuck into American life in Texas, one thing is for sure, you won’t forget it in a hurry.

The most important thing is that you make the most of it and get yourself a job that you will love. So why not enjoy your few months of freedom and relive your Parent Trap fuelled dream of going to camp?

Just imagine it! Your summer office could look a little something like this.

This December, USIT Ireland and Camp USA.ie are offering an amazing deal for Irish students looking to spend the summer as a camp counsellor in the States.

You can get the whole summer package for just €699 if you sign up for the early bird offer (€799 after that). Here’s what it includes.

  • Return international flights*
  • J-1 Camp Counsellor Visa
  • SEVIS
  • Accommodation and food at camp
  • Insurance
  • A job with a top US summer camp

You’ll even be able to travel for 30 days in the USA after your contract is finished.

Camp USA.ie is also holding a hiring fair at the Alexander Hotel Dublin on the 11th January, so you can go along to see what camps are on offer and potentially get hired on the spot. You can register to come along here. There are less than 80 spots left and they are filling up fast, so sign up soon!

So, if you’re aged 18-30, and have an interest in water sports, tennis, golf, hiking, swimming, cooking, video, science, music, arts and crafts or have experience with children, then head along and it could be the start of an amazing 2017.

If you’re still not sure if camp is for you then Emma, Eoghan & Sadhbh’s 2016 summer story may convince you. You can read all about it here.
