A dog who weighed just 11 pounds when she was rescued from her cruel owners has proven that love and dedication can save any animal.
Angel was so sick when she was found, that the shelter who took her in reported that she couldn’t walk and her organs had begun shutting down.
Rescue From the Hart, a group based in California, are sharing Angel’s story to prove the difference a shelter and good home can make to a sick dog.
The California based group received a call in December 2014, where they heard a dog had been purposely starved almost to death.

While the situation seemed grim, the shelter rallied around Angel – showing her love, support and feeding her regularly.
They dedicated the next five weeks to bringing up her energy to allow her to walk by herself.
Thankfully, Angel was adopted by her rescue family just in time, and started the long road to recovery.

The woman who brought Angel in was eventually discovered to be her abuser, and multiple starving, near-death dogs were found living in her home.
She has since been arrested.
Angel, thankfully now lives with a loving family, and her adopted dog sibling.
The posts mark as a poignant reminder ahead of the Christmas season, where people regularly buy dogs as gifts.
The group are hoping her story may act as a warning to those who don’t think about the complications, care and consideration owning your own animal may have.
