A woman form South Shields has come up with the best alternative to the standard advent calendar.
Taking to Facebook, Louise Scott wrote: “It’s the first year (at 33) I don’t have a advent calendar! Instead…. every day, I will place something in this box”.
Louise has vowed to fill the box with food, toilets and other goods and on Christmas Eve she will take it to a shelter and donate it to a homeless person. The post has been shared over 65 thousand times.

The personal trainer is overwhelmed by the response. Speaking to The Metro, Louise said: “There’s been so much bad news in regards to the Paris attacks, that I thought it would be nice to show people that we do care and there are still lots of loving people around.
“I never dreamed I would get the response I have. I will be getting everyone offering to help to drop stuff at my home just before Christmas Eve, and I will take some boxes around the streets and some to a homeless shelter.”
