To the many fans of IKEA, a stop-off for super-cheap and tasty Swedish food is one of the highlights of any visit, (along with a game of Hide and Seek of course).

From today, some IKEA customers worldwide will have the chance to enjoy the furniture giant’s famous meatballs with a twist – the vegan version.

Following plans announced at the beginning of 2015, IKEA has rolled out their new product GRÖNSAKSBULLAR – a vegan meatball. The tasty treat is available in select stores from today and will soon roll out to its more than 350 of the chain’s outlets.

According to PETA, who have been working with IKEA over the past three years, 1 in 8 people living in the UK is vegetarian or vegan.

The new version of the classic KÖTBULLAR will include chickpeas, kale, carrots, peppers and peas.

Fans of the original need not fear, however, as the original pork and beef creation will remain on sale.
